Sermon Notes

The purpose of Scripture is to equip believers to be spiritually mature and fully prepared for every good work that God calls them to do.

  1. Indwelling of the Holy Spirit When we accept Christ, the Holy Spirit takes residence in our hearts. This means that God’s presence is always with us, guiding, comforting, and empowering us. Scripture Reference: Romans 8:9 – “You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you.”
  2. Transformation of Identity Being in Christ means that our old selves are transformed; we are given a new identity as children of God. This transformation affects our thoughts, actions, and purpose. Scripture Reference: 2 Corinthians 5:17 – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
  3. Empowerment for Living With Christ in us, we have the strength to face challenges, resist temptation, and live according to God’s will. This empowerment comes from relying on His presence and guidance. Scripture Reference: Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” – James 1:5 (NIV) Every day presents choices that can shape our lives. From the small decisions to the major crossroads, we are often left wondering what the best path is. Fortunately, God’s Word offers us a clear solution: we can ask Him for wisdom.
  4. Intimacy with God The relationship established by Christ’s indwelling fosters a deep, personal connection with God. Believers can pray, worship, and commune with Him intimately. Scripture Reference: John 15:4 – “Abide in me, and I in you…” Intimacy with God is a walk with Him. As we draw near to Him, we discover His love, grace, and guidance in profound ways. This relationship is transformative and will influence every aspect of our lives. Prayer: Loving Father, thank You for inviting me into a close relationship with You. Help me to draw near and create space for You in my life. Teach me to listen to Your voice and respond to Your love. May my intimacy with You deepen each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
