MUST HAVE CHRISTIAN HABITS

“The Habits of the Believer.” As followers of Christ, our lives are shaped not only by moments of faith but also by the daily habits we cultivate. We all have habits—some good and some not so good. Habits are the actions we repeat regularly, often without thinking. They shape our character, influence our decisions, and ultimately determine the direction of our lives.

In the same way, the habits we cultivate as believers can have a profound impact on our relationship with God and our effectiveness in the world. In his book “Atomic Habits,” James Clear states, “You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.” As believers, our spiritual habits are part of that system.

They create a framework for our faith and help us grow closer to God. Today, we will explore the important habits of believers and their significance in our walk with Christ. Let me start with a story. A young woman named Rachel came to me, overwhelmed with her spiritual life. “Pastor,” she said, “I want to grow closer to God, but it feels like I’m just surviving.

I don’t know where to start!” Rachel’s story is a reflection of many believers today. We desire a vibrant relationship with God, yet we often overlook the power of consistent habits that can transform our spiritual journey.

The Bible speaks extensively about habits— those regular practices that define our lives and shape our character. Proverbs 22:6 tells us, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” This principle applies not only to children but to all believers. The habits we form today will influence our spiritual lives for years to come.
